Another Weekend Comes to a Close…Odds and Ends

I can’t believe how fast the weekends go!  This weekend was particularly exhausting . . . I haven’t blogged about this yet because there have been so many other things going on, but late Tuesday night, my community was hit by a series of small tornadoes (can a tornado be small?) and my neighborhood was no exception.  My house was untouched, but our beautiful woods was destroyed.  I thought I’d share a few photos to remind us all how powerful Mother Nature can be and how diligent we all must be when severe weather approaches!  We were in the basement at the time, so I didn’t have to witness just how close we came to disaster.  These trees are all within 20 feet of our house!  I am trying very hard not to wallow in self-pity because there are many people around us who lost much much more.  That being said, I have been wallowing quite a bit!

So we have been sawing and dragging and piling wood all weekend–and taking Advil!
On a positive note, I was able to get my new “Using Exit Slips to Guide Instruction” resource finished to complement the “Using Entrance Slips to Guide Instruction” resource.  I even bundled the two at a great price!  I’ll put the links at the bottom.
I also stopped by my classroom for a few hours on Friday to try to dig in a little–and “dig in” I did!
This is the point every year where I remind myself that it HAS to get worse before it gets better!  You might notice the turquoise tags on the bulletin boards.  When I get started, I put notes of exactly WHAT I want to put on each board before I start.  That way if I change my mind, it’s just a matter of switching tags.

UGH!  The air conditioning wasn’t on–this bad boy SAVED me!

A visit to my storage area . . . a few years ago I started storing all my units in labeled tubs with resources, books, work samples, and more.  I LOVE being able to just grab the tub when it’s time to teach, then return it to the shelf when we are finished!

Watch for updates on my classroom next week when things (hopefully!) start to take shape a little more!  If you are interested, here are the links to the new products!  Hope you have a great week!
