Learning About Life–Jamaican Style

Yah Mon!

I don’t know if you have noticed, but I’ve been ON VACATION!  I did schedule a few posts while I was gone, but I am back in the flesh . . . slightly tanned and about 5 pounds heavier.  Sigh.

That being said, I learned a few things in Jamaica!  For those of you who have never been there, I thought I’d enlighten you!  I am embracing a few things about Jamaica before I bury myself back into the trenches . . . see what you think.

1.  Even the rainiest moments disappear pretty quickly if you just sit back and wait patiently, knowing the sun will be worth the wait.
2.  Even the most daunting of tasks is easier to handle when you work together.  Check the photo out.  I climbed that.  Seriously–I didn’t think I could do it.  Notice how you do it–you grab on to the people by you and just DO IT!  You warn the people behind you about slippery spots  . . . you listen to the people ahead of you and trust that they are giving good information . . . you congratulate everyone for making it .  . . even if you don’t know them at all.  You go up as a team–and you really FEEL the “aloneness” when your teammates let go for even a brief moment.  Interesting, eh?  Talk about interdependence.
3.  One of our tour guides told us that in Jamaica, there are “No Problems”, just “situations”.  Problems are bad–“situations” just need handling.  Perhaps we could all benefit from a “rephrasing” of sorts when talking about our “problems”!  When we drove through the countryside and saw how people are living, I realize that my biggest “problems” are absolutely nothing.  Nothing at all.
Well, anyhoo, today’s list of “situations” includes several loads of laundry, grocery shopping, and report cards!  I hope you all had a great week–and hopes for a “no situation” week ahead!  It’s good to be home . . .
